The Quick Response (QR) system is a technology that allows electronic payments to be made through a two-dimensional barcode that is generated with a mobile device. This system has become popular in recent years, due to its ease of use and security, which was adopted by a significant number of the population. Currently, companies are looking for payment alternatives like this that allow secure transactions.
Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the main engines that sustain the economy, being sources of employment for more than half of the population. The incorporation of the QR payment system in SMEs in Cochabamba, Bolivia, has a positive impact on their development, as it allows them to reduce transaction costs, improve the customer experience and expand the market.
To carry out an analysis of this impact, aspects such as the adoption of the system by SMEs, the benefits and challenges in a highly competitive market, especially due to informality, will be considered.
The differentiation is given for those companies that adapt to the new trends of the environment. The main challenge faced by SMEs is to provide the necessary confidence to consumers, offering a fast alternative to carry out the transaction safely and with technological tools that allow them to adapt to the evolution of the market with the appearance of the mobile wallet. In this research, we will analyze the impact and the possible scenarios they will face in the long term.
