According to the digital magazine "The Ecuador Journal of Medicine" mistreatment and abuse in older adults has increased in recent decades, with physical, psychological, sexual abuse and neglect being the most common. This work aims to highlight the results obtained on the development of the project of linkage with the community of the School of Music of the University of the hemispheres and the Fretless Foundation, called "Choir of the Elderly Association of Retirees of Uyumbicho", which is carried out in the Uyumbicho parish of the Mejía Canton and in articulation with the Nucleus of the House of Culture Mejía extension. The methodology used was based on observation and direct data collection. The interest of this project is to contribute to the eradication of ageism (discrimination based on age), it seeks to contribute to the better quality of life by promoting respect, admiration and dignity in old age among the community from choral practice, which also helps to avoid depression caused mainly by loneliness among other reasons. For this, a series of activities are proposed with the choir ranging from the development of the singing technique, musical repertoire to concerts, all articulated with cultural dissemination entities, decentralized governments and the community.
