The main interest of this article is to explain the importance of art in education through the STEAM methodology (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) and its influence on the teaching-learning process of first year of high school in the subject of Physics. In this context, the execution of STEAM educational projects is planned, which responds to two interactive challenges focused on knowledge of the universe and renewable energies, which are curricular contents of the subject. The methodology used was practical-experimental in nature, where students worked in teams, within creative spaces (makespaces), to address practical challenges through the integration of art and science. The results reveal that 92.5% of the students reported an increase in understanding of the topics covered, thanks to the STEAM methodology and that 100% of the students affirm their satisfaction with respect to the practice, where their designed prototypes stood out for their innovation and aesthetics. Finally, the article highlights the importance of incorporating the STEAM methodology in various areas, highlighting its ability to develop crucial skills to prepare future generations for the challenges of the current and future work environment.
