Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another press for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in the Microsoft Word, RTF, or OpenDocument file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Press.

POLÍTICA DE ACCESO ABIERTO
La Editorial se adhiere a los principios y definiciones del acceso abierto (Open Access) desde la Declaración de Acceso Abierto de Budapest 2002 (Budapest Open Access Initiative, 2002) y sus actualizaciones hasta la declaración de San Francisco en el 2012 y sus actualizaciones.

Una vez realizada la publicación, se acepta que la revista promocione y difunda su contenido en parte o con la totalidad del artículo siempre y cuando se dé el crédito respectivo al autor(a), quien a todo evento mantiene los derechos de propiedad intelectual.
La Editorial otorga a cada artículo publicado un Digital Object Identifier (DOI)
Derecho de los lectores
El contenido difundido se presenta en formato abierto, de tal manera que los lectores pueden acceder al contenido de cada artículo gratuitamente, una vez que haya sido publicado.
Publicación automática
Los manuscritos publicados se gestionan para que estén disponibles en repositorios confiables como BASE, CORE, WORLDCAT , entre otros. Los artículos publicados por La Editorial se pueden compartir bajo la Creative Commons — Atribución-NoComercial-SinDerivadas 4.0 Internacional — CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 en la definición de su política de acceso abierto y reúso del material publicado.
Usted es libre de:
- Compartir — copiar y redistribuir el material en cualquier medio o formato
- La licenciante no puede revocar estas libertades en tanto usted siga los términos de la licencia

Avisos:

POLÍTICA DE AUTOARCHIVO:
La revista permite a los autores, al momento de aceptarse el trabajo, auto archivar con fines no comerciales, incluyendo su depósito en repositorios institucionales o temáticos como mir@bel, redes sociales (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.). La Editorial promueve su divulgación a través de las redesacadémicas (Research Gate, Academia.edu, etc.), perfles como Google Scholar, ORCID, ResearchID, etc., de conformidad con sus políticas de financiamiento garantizando a sus autores la divulgación adicional de su contenido, adicional a la base de autoarchivo.

Los manuscritos publicados se pueden compartir bajo la Creative Commons — Atribución-NoComercial-SinDerivadas 4.0 Internacional — CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 en la definición de su política de acceso abierto y reúso del material publicado.
Al otorgar una licencia CC BY-NC-ND en su trabajo, los autores conservan la propiedad de los derechos de autor del trabajo, pero dan permiso explícito para que otros descarguen, reutilicen, reimpriman, distribuyan y/o compartan el trabajo, siempre que el original la fuente y los autores están debidamente citados (es decir, una cita bibliográfica completa y un enlace al sitio web de La Editorial o sus DOI).

Privacy, Open Access and Open Science Policy
JLA Ediciones protects the personal data involved in its publishing processes and promotes the open, responsible and equitable circulation of knowledge in a manner that respects human rights. This policy distinguishes individual privacy, the confidentiality of editorial assessment and the legal conditions governing access to and reuse of publications.

Guiding principle: JLA Ediciones applies UNESCO's principle of being ‘as open as possible and as restricted as necessary’. Openness must not infringe privacy, confidentiality, copyright, the rights of research participants, or the protection of Indigenous, traditional, sacred or sensitive knowledge.

02 · Data processed
Information that may be collected
Identity and contact details Names, email address, telephone number where necessary, country, signature and user-account details.
Scholarly information Institutional affiliation, qualifications, ORCID, biography, areas of expertise, contributions, conflicts of interest and authorship metadata.
Editorial and technical data Manuscripts, files, communications, review reports, version history, activity logs, IP address, access date and technical security data.
Contractual data Information required for quotations, contracting, invoicing, payments, royalties or tax compliance, where applicable.
JLA Ediciones does not request special-category or sensitive data unless they are indispensable for a legitimate purpose, an appropriate lawful basis exists and enhanced safeguards are applied. Authors must not include identifiable personal data relating to participants without consent, ethical approval or another applicable legal basis.
03 · Purposes and lawful basis
Why and on what basis data are used
- To administer accounts, receive proposals and maintain editorial communications.
- To manage preliminary assessment, peer review, revisions, production, contracting and publication.
- To verify authorship, originality, research integrity, conflicts of interest and ethical compliance.
- To assign ISBNs, DOIs and other identifiers; deposit metadata; and preserve and disseminate publications.
- To respond to enquiries and rights requests, prevent security incidents and comply with legal obligations.
- To produce aggregated or anonymised publishing statistics for service assessment and improvement.
The applicable lawful bases may include consent, steps taken before entering into a contract or performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, and legitimate interests that have been properly balanced. Where consent is required, it may be withdrawn without affecting the lawfulness of processing already undertaken or obligations to preserve the scholarly record.
04 · Editorial confidentiality
Manuscripts, peer review and artificial intelligence
Unpublished manuscripts, review reports, editorial correspondence and reviewer identities, where the peer-review model is confidential, are treated as confidential information. Editors, reviewers, copy-editors and other contributors will have access only to the data necessary for their role and will be subject to duties of confidentiality.
Acceptance or rejection decisions will not be made solely by automated systems. Text-similarity tools and tools designed to identify possible AI involvement provide indicators that must be interpreted by appropriately qualified people. Confidential manuscripts will not be uploaded to external AI services that reuse data for training or lack appropriate contractual and security safeguards.
05 · Disclosure and publication
Recipients, metadata and transfers
Data may be disclosed, only to the extent strictly necessary, to members of the editorial team, reviewers, technology and production providers, ISBN registration bodies, Crossref, preservation services, catalogues, repositories, indexes and discovery platforms.
Following publication, author names, affiliations, ORCID identifiers, biographies, titles, abstracts, keywords, references, licences, identifiers and other metadata designated as public may be disseminated globally and harvested by third parties. The published scholarly record may require permanent retention to ensure its integrity, citability and traceability.
Where international data transfers take place, JLA Ediciones will seek to use providers and recipients that apply appropriate contractual, technical and organisational safeguards. Personal data will not be sold or disclosed for commercial advertising unrelated to the stated publishing purposes.
06 · Retention and security
Retention periods and safeguards
Data will be retained for as long as necessary to manage the editorial, contractual and legal relationship. Files relating to published works and essential elements of the scholarly record may be retained permanently. Files relating to rejected or withdrawn proposals will be deleted, anonymised or restricted when no longer needed, unless they must be retained because of a legal obligation, dispute, ethics investigation or consent for consideration under a future call.
Access controls, role-based permissions, backups, software updates, activity logging and other reasonable measures are applied to protect the confidentiality, integrity, availability and resilience of data. No system is completely invulnerable; incidents will be managed and notified in accordance with applicable law.
07 · Data subject rights
Access, rectification and control
Under Ecuador's Organic Law on Personal Data Protection, individuals may request access, rectification and updating, erasure where applicable, objection, suspension or restriction of processing, portability in applicable cases, and human review of automated decisions.
Requests must be sent to editorial@jlacolectivo.com, with sufficient information to verify identity and locate the relevant data. Certain rights may be limited where necessary to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record, comply with a legal obligation, establish or defend legal claims, protect third-party rights or maintain peer-review confidentiality.
08 · Digital platform
Cookies and technical logs
OMP may use cookies that are strictly necessary for authentication, security, session management, language settings and platform operation. Any analytical or non-essential cookie must be identified and, where required by law, activated only after consent has been obtained. Technical logs will be used for security, diagnostics and service continuity.
09 · Open Access
Access, licences, rights and charges
Publications designated as Open Access will be available online to read and download without subscription, reader payment, compulsory registration or an embargo period. The applicable licence will be displayed prominently on each book and chapter, together with authorship and citation information.
JLA Ediciones favours open licences that permit consultation, distribution and responsible reuse with appropriate attribution. To align fully with the Budapest definition of Open Access and the UNESCO Recommendation, licences such as CC BY 4.0 or CC BY-SA 4.0 will be prioritised. Where NC or ND clauses are used, readers will be informed that reuse is limited and that the work provides free access subject to additional restrictions.
Open Access for readers does not necessarily mean that publishing production is free of cost. Any charge for editing, typesetting, printing, distribution or additional services will be disclosed in advance through a transparent proposal and kept separate from scholarly assessment. There will be no hidden charges or payments that guarantee acceptance.

10 · Open science and responsible research assessment
Publishing commitments
- UNESCO: promote equitable access, linguistic diversity, open infrastructures, collaboration, and the protection of information that must legitimately remain restricted.
- BOAI: facilitate the availability and reuse of knowledge through immediate access, clear licensing and sustainable practices.
- DORA: assess works on their quality, rigour and contribution, without using journal or publisher prestige, or isolated indicators, as substitutes for assessment.
- I4OC: deposit references and citation data in structured, separable and open formats where infrastructure and rights permit.
- COPE: protect personal data and confidentiality, manage conflicts of interest, and maintain responsible, transparent and fair publishing processes.
Reference to these initiatives expresses alignment with their principles and must not be interpreted as membership, signature or formal recognition unless JLA Ediciones can demonstrate that status publicly.
11 · Participation and validity
Institutional openness and policy changes
JLA Ediciones encourages participation by authors, reviewers and readers from different institutions, countries, disciplines and backgrounds, without discrimination. Editorial decisions are based on relevance, quality, integrity and compliance with published policies.
This policy may be updated in response to legal, technological or editorial changes. The current version, its revision date and the change history will be published on this page. Material changes will not be applied retrospectively in a manner incompatible with acquired rights or the original lawful basis.
