Mission
JLA Ediciones publishes, preserves, and disseminates high-quality academic and professional knowledge, with an emphasis on open access, scientific integrity, and social relevance from Ecuador to the world.
Vision
To consolidate JLA Ediciones as a leading publishing imprint in Latin America and Europe, recognized for editorial quality, process transparency, metadata interoperability, and the verifiable impact of its publications on academia, public policy, and civil society.
Editorial Scope
We publish monographs, collective works, teaching manuals, conference proceedings, and outreach texts, scientific research, poetic anthologies, narrative works, and educational texts grounded in social responsibility. Our areas include Law, Business Sciences, Engineering, Health, Education, among others. Works are accepted in Spanish and English, and the inclusion of bilingual abstracts is encouraged.
Principles: ethics and integrity, responsible assessment (DORA and related commitments), open access, diversity of output formats — articles, books, data, and software — traceability, and preservation.
Key Policies
- Open access: recommended license CC BY 4.0; no charges are applied to readers. Author charges, where applicable, are communicated in advance and with full transparency.
- Responsible assessment: priority is given to the merit of the content and its verifiable impact; journal-based metrics, such as JIF or quartiles, are not used as quality criteria.
- Editorial ethics: aligned with international good practices; management of conflicts of interest, originality, and misconduct — including retractions and corrections — is duly documented.
- Interoperability and preservation: OAI-PMH, ONIX metadata, DOIs through Crossref, and regular backups of databases and files.
- Accessibility: readability standards and alternative formats, such as PDF and EPUB, are promoted whenever possible.
Identifiers and Metadata
To ensure visibility and interoperability, we use standardized identifiers and metadata:
- Institutional ISBN: 978-9942-791
- DOI (Crossref): assigned to books and chapters with standardized licenses and affiliations.
- ORCID: recommended for all authors and editors; linked in the metadata.
- ROR: use of the institutional affiliation identifier in each record. https://ror.org/002swtn40
- ONIX: generation of metadata packages for catalogues and aggregators.
Editorial Series
- Research Monographs: original findings and critical syntheses.
- University Textbooks and Manuals: teaching and professional materials.
- Conference Proceedings: compilations from academic events, such as CIIA.
- Outreach Notebooks: open science for broader audiences.
Editorial Process
- Submission of the proposal/work, including authorship guidelines, template, and metadata form.
- Editorial review of relevance, originality, ethics, and quality.
- Production, including copyediting, design, metadata preparation, DOI assignment, and proofs.
- Publication and dissemination through the catalogue, OAI-PMH, repositories, and institutional communication channels.
- Preservation, including backups and registration in preservation systems where applicable.

Editorial Governance
Founded in 2016, JLA Ediciones develops its publications through a specialist review system involving Master’s and Ph.D.-level reviewers, who are invited, according to each project, to join the Editorial Board. It is part of the production lines of ARTSCOLLECTIVE JLA S.A.S., a pioneering company in the development of cultural projects with social responsibility. Its funding system, based on contributions and project-based financing, is monitored by the Superintendency of Companies, Securities and Insurance of Ecuador. More information is available here. In addition, JLA Ediciones receives support from other sponsorship and funding sources linked to the development of social sustainability projects, in accordance with the Organic Law for Economic Development and Fiscal Sustainability after the Pandemic
COVID-19, as well as from companies sponsoring cultural, pedagogical, or research initiatives pursuant to Agreement No. MCYP-MCYP-2022-0025-A, applicable to individuals, companies, and/or cultural grassroots organizations.
JLA EDICIONES has an Editorial Direction, an external Editorial Committee with disciplinary representation, and a Production and Design team. Its policies and procedures are reviewed annually, and any updates are published on this portal.
