Sinopsis

La educación formal siempre se ha considerado una condición esencial para el crecimiento económico y el desarrollo de la sociedad. Se suele pensar que una sociedad con altos niveles de educación se caracteriza por un mayor nivel de desarrollo. Sin embargo, esto no es del todo cierto; la afirmación es parcialmente correcta, pero no necesariamente. Se asume que una sociedad con altos niveles de educación tiene mejores condiciones para alcanzar el desarrollo, ya que la educación mejora las habilidades y la productividad de las personas, facilita la innovación y el avance tecnológico, promueve una ciudadanía más informada y participativa, y podría reducir la desigualdad a largo plazo.

Biografía del autor/a

Rafael Salvador Espinosa-Ramírez, Universidad de Guadalajara

Holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Guadalajara (UdeG), Mexico, a Master's degree in Economics from the Center for Research and Teaching in Economics (CIDE), Mexico, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Essex, United Kingdom. He also earned a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Baja California, Mexico, and completed undergraduate and graduate studies in Theology.

He is a Professor and Researcher in the Department of Economics at the University of Guadalajara, where he currently serves as Head of the Department of Quantitative Methods. He is a Level II Researcher in Mexico's National System of Researchers (Sistema Nacional de Investigadores, SNI).

Previously, Dr. Espinosa Ramírez served as Director of the Center for Social and Economic Research (CISE) at the University of Guadalajara. From 2000 to 2002, he was Director of the Socioeconomic Area at the International Institute of Governance in Barcelona, Spain, where he led analyses of the economic environment of Latin American countries. He also coordinated the Master's Program in Economics and the Master's Program in International Economic Relations and Cooperation, both at the University of Guadalajara.

He has been a Visiting Professor at the University of the Basque Country, the University of Vic, and the University of Barcelona, Spain.

Dr. Espinosa Ramírez is the author of 12 books, more than 35 articles published in international peer-reviewed journals, and 15 book chapters, primarily in the fields of economics, economic development, public policy, and applied economic analysis. His research interests include economic development, the economics of education, public policy, quantitative methods, and socioeconomic analysis.
